I was born in San Salvador, El Salvador to a chef mother and a father who manufactured restaurant equipment. I grew up surrounded by beautiful volcanic landscapes, tropical colors, and ancestral flavors.
My creative journey began at a young age, when my parents enrolled me in oil painting classes with Salvadoran Master Artist: Armando Solis. I absorbed every technique and my interests to pursue other creative mediums evolved. After the 2001 earthquakes, my family migrated to the United States. In high school, I focused on ceramics and sculpture. However, I decided to enroll in the Montgomery Blair High School’s (MBHS) Entrepreneurship Academy. I learned about personal finance, marketing, and how to start a business. I competed in business plan and marketing competitions; and excelled. On my senior year, I was selected to represent MBHS’s Entrepreneurship Academy at a White House dinner hosted by Michelle Obama.
I attended Towson University where I pursued a degree focused in healthcare while taking extra sculpture and object design courses. For graduate school, I was accepted at the George Washington University’s MA Interaction Design program. This program encouraged me to pursue both of my interests; design and business. I absorbed everything, from design thinking, prototyping, community engagement, and strategic design. In 2019, I entered the school wide New Venture Competition where I placed first for my track and raised $35K for my team’s idea.
This is my creative journey, and it led me to the intersection of design and business.
